Specific information on how countries compile their CPI statistics can be found on the IMF website: https://dsbb.imf.org/\nStatistical concept(s): The conceptual basis of a consumer price index series is to measure the rate at which prices of consumption goods and services are changing from one period to another.\n\n### Development relevance:\nA general and continuing increase in an economy’s price level is called inflation. The increase in the average prices of goods and services in the economy should be distinguished from a change in the relative prices of individual goods and services. Generally accompanying an overall increase in the price level is a change in the structure of relative prices, but it is only the average increase, not the relative price changes, that constitutes inflation. A commonly used measure of inflation is the consumer price index, which measures the prices of a representative basket of goods and services purchased by a typical household. The consumer price index is usually calculated on the basis of periodic surveys of consumer prices. Other price indices are derived implicitly from indexes of current and constant price series.\n\n### Limitations and exceptions:\nConsumer price indexes should be interpreted with caution. The definition of a household, the basket of goods, and the geographic (urban or rural) and income group coverage of consumer price surveys can vary widely by country. In addition, weights are derived from household expenditure surveys, which, for budgetary reasons, tend to be conducted infrequently in developing countries, impairing comparability over time. Although useful for measuring consumer price inflation within a country, consumer price indexes are of less value in comparing countries.","descriptionProcessing":"We adjusted the original data for inflation and converted it to constant 2021 US dollars.","type":"int","dataChecksum":"5190219213355744560","metadataChecksum":"-620808578868019145","datasetName":"GPEI Historical Contributions","updatePeriodDays":365,"datasetVersion":"2024-04-22","nonRedistributable":false,"display":{"unit":"constant 2021 US$","shortUnit":"$","numDecimalPlaces":0},"schemaVersion":2,"processingLevel":"major","presentation":{"topicTagsLinks":["Polio","Eradication of Diseases"]},"dimensions":{"years":{"values":[{"id":1994},{"id":1995},{"id":1996},{"id":1997},{"id":1998},{"id":1999},{"id":2000},{"id":2001},{"id":2002},{"id":2003},{"id":2004},{"id":2005},{"id":2006},{"id":2007},{"id":2008},{"id":2009},{"id":2010},{"id":2011},{"id":2012},{"id":2013},{"id":2014},{"id":2015},{"id":2016},{"id":2017},{"id":2018},{"id":2019},{"id":2020},{"id":2021},{"id":2022}]},"entities":{"values":[{"id":355,"name":"World","code":"OWID_WRL"}]}},"origins":[{"id":647,"title":"GPEI Historical Contributions","description":"This dataset shows an overall summary of the financial contributions to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative received over the last 35 years.","producer":"Global Polio Eradication Initiative","citationFull":"Historical Contributions, Global Polio Eradication Initiative (2022)","attributionShort":"GPEI","urlMain":"https://polioeradication.org/financing/donors/historical-contributions/","dateAccessed":"2024-04-22","datePublished":"2023-11-01","license":{"url":"https://www.who.int/about/policies/publishing/copyright","name":"CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 IGO"}},{"id":12930,"title":"World Development Indicators","description":"The World Development Indicators (WDI) database, published by the World Bank, is a comprehensive collection of global development data, providing key economic, social, and environmental statistics.
